Fruit Custard Recipe
Fruit Custard Recipe
Here’s a simple and healthy Fruit Custard recipe using milk:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups full-fat milk (or low-fat milk for a lighter version)
- 2 tablespoons custard powder (vanilla flavor)
- 2-3 tablespoons sugar or a natural sweetener like honey or maple syrup (optional, based on your taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence (optional)
- 1 cup mixed fruits (such as apple, banana, pomegranate, grapes, and papaya)
Instructions:
Prepare Custard Mix:
In a small bowl, mix the custard powder with 3-4 tablespoons of milk to make a smooth paste. Set it aside.
Heat the Milk:
In a saucepan, heat the remaining milk over medium heat. Stir frequently to prevent it from sticking to the bottom.
Add Custard Paste:
Once the milk starts warming up, add the custard powder paste slowly to the milk, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Keep stirring until the mixture thickens (about 5-7 minutes).
Sweeten:
Add sugar (or honey/maple syrup) and vanilla essence to the custard, and mix well. Let it cook for another minute or two, and then remove it from the heat.
Cool the Custard:
Allow the custard to cool for a bit at room temperature and then refrigerate it for 1-2 hours, if desired.
Prepare the Fruits:
While the custard is cooling, wash and chop your fruits into bite-sized pieces.
Serve:
Once the custard has cooled, mix it with the chopped fruits and serve chilled.
Healthy Tips:
Use Low-Fat Milk:
For a healthier version, opt for low-fat or skim milk.
Add More Fruits:
The more fruits you use, the healthier and more nutritious the dish becomes. Include seasonal fruits for a variety of flavors.
Use Natural Sweeteners:
Instead of sugar, try sweetening the custard with honey, stevia, or maple syrup.
Reduce Sugar:
If you prefer less sweetness, reduce the sugar quantity or skip it altogether, as the fruits will provide natural sweetness.
Add Nuts/Seeds:
You can sprinkle some chopped nuts or seeds (like almonds, cashews, or chia seeds) for added crunch and nutrition.
Enjoy your delicious, healthy fruit custard!
